It's not everyday a musician who played with Elvis visits the small town where I live in the south of Sweden, but tomorrow isn't everyday. Tomorrow, Glen D. Hardin will perform an the local theater, and I'll be there.
Of course Glen D. won't be on stage alone, but together with something called The Cadillac Band. The members seems like a mixed lot including B.B. Cunningham (Jerry Lee Lewis's bass player), James Lott (Sun Studio musician) and guitarist Mats MP Persson (from the Swedish band Gyllene Tider), amongst others.
Behind the microphone will be Justin Shandor, a young Elvis impersonator from Las Vegas (where else?) who apparently is a big success back home in the States.
As I've stated before, I'm not heavily into impersonators (you can read about that here). But this Justin Shandor guy I'm gonna give a chance. First of all, he bears a striking resemblance to the real thing, and secondly, he seems to sing and move pretty decent, too:
But the main reason I'll be sitting in the audience tomorrow night is Glen D. Hardin. After all, he was there together with Elvis when it happened. It doesn't get any closer than that.
More about this in my next posting, after the show...
